Front End Access to Mailing Lists for Select Users

Recently I reviewed this component on Joomla. I am including a snippet from that review:

The biggest thing on my wishlist would be that there be access from the front end for only a group of users. My site is for an online gaming society and each league admin would like to have access to their mailing lists to send notices of events/contests/etc.... I have tried everything, and it looks like I either open it up to everyone, open up the whole admin backend to my league admins, or do all the mailings myself. Is this something others are interested in as well? Is this something that could be developed in the near future?

The response from Axxis was they would consider it, but asked me to post it here to see if there are others who would like to see this kind of enhancement as well. I can't imagine that every site using this wants to give backend access to all designated mailing users. If we could restrict backend access to just this component, it would be different, but the only access to the administrative tools is to give the user administrator rights, which allows them full access to destroy your site. From the front end, the only access is allowing someone to email a designated email address assigned to that list.

I am interested in seeing responses or work-arounds some of you may have found.

Actually, if you allow in the UML configuration to send also to subscribers of the list, the front-end user that selects "send email", and composes an email, sends it not only to the address of the mailing list, but to all subscribers of that list!

The discussion here is to make it more refined, to bring much more functionality from the back-end to the front-end.

Thank you for that clarification! I didn't really pursue this option all that much since, as you stated, I am more interested in bringing some of the back-end functions to the front-end for select users! I definitely am not interested in allowing all front-end users the ability to email the mailing lists.

Exactly! It must be more refined. We are thinking about giving the admin the possibility to handpick users to give this allowance...

That is exactly what I am hoping for!!!

This would relieve me of some craziness! As it stands now, I have to be online daily making sure that each of my league admins have the latest list of email addresses for their mailing lists or send out the mailings myself. It would make my life so much easier if this refinement was developed! I am happy to hear of the direction you are considering! Many Thanks!

It is not allowing me to install over the existing install. Do I need to uninstall first, and if I do, what will that do to my current mailing lists?

Has the link been updated to the newest version, because I renamed my directories and installed and I am seeing nothing new?

Okay!!! I figured it out, and it looks awesome! Very exciting! Going to setup my admins and let them start using it! Great job!!! The only thing I am still trying to figure out is how I assign a template to a List. I have different templates for each list. For now, I am just going to make a single generic template.
